AIR TRANSPORTATION/AIRPORT

William B Hartsfield International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. ATL offers assistance for people with disabilities.

All restroom facilities are fully equipped for wheelchair access. A companion restroom is located at Gate T-11, A-8, C-11, D-5, and D-31. To accommodate passengers’ pets and guide dogs, there is a park located on the lower level of Terminal North outside door LN2 to the right of the building.

Airport telephone booths are designed to accommodate passengers with special needs and are located throughout the concourses. Passengers should proceed to concourse gates: T-3 & 11; A-3, 15, 18 & 22; B-1, 18, 21 & 30; C-1, 14, 28, 31; D-3, 9, 6 & 36; E-7, 15, 29 & the US Customs Area.

Airline personnel at Hartsfield-Jackson can provide wheelchair assistance with wheelchairs, an aisle chair, and bag assistance. To reserve a wheelchair or aisle chair from the airport, please contact your airline directly in advanced, before your scheduled flight.

Many of the restaurants and fast food establishments offer dedicated seating for people who use wheelchairs.

Parking for passengers with disabilities is available in all Airport parking. Upon entering the parking lot please follow highly visible directional signage, which reflects the standard symbol for disabled individuals.

TRAIN (Light Rail)

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority: (MARTA) public transit system offers passengers direct rail service between the Airport’s main terminal building and downtown Atlanta. Passengers can also ride MARTA to and from other parts of the city. The station’s platform includes elevator access. There is designated seating for people with a disability. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial: Provides a tour of Martin Luther King’s birthplace, his church and the memorial. This tour is not fully wheelchair accessible.

The World of Coca Cola: This wheelchair accessible museum is a tribute to all things Coca Cola!

Georgia Aquarium: The Georgia Aquarium is the world’s largest aquarium and an accessible destination. The aquarium offers interactive activities for everyone to participate in, “no matter what their ability is.” Please click here for more information on accessibility.

CNN Studio: Take the one hour studio tour of CNN. The CNN Studio Tour is wheelchair accessible, however they require 24 hours advanced notice.

Olympic Park: Centennial Park is a 21 acre park that is a tribute to the 1996 Olympics.

High Museum of Art: The High Museum of Art is a fully accessible museum. Wheelchairs may be requested at the time of your visit from the security officer at the Museum’s Wieland Pavilion entrance.

Atlanta Botanical Garden: The Botanical Garden is almost fully accessible. The park offers wheelchairs for use on a first come first serve basis. Electric scooters are available for rent as well.

Zoo Atlanta: The Atlanta Zoo is wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs can be rented for a small fee and are located at Safari Outfitters.

Decatur Square and Virginia Highlands are a great place to walk around and window shop. It’s relatively pedestrian and wheelchair friendly compared with other areas of Atlanta.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History: “Very accessible – planty of parking, curb cuts, ramps and an elevator. Holeman and Finch: – Touted best burger in the country, but only serves 25 at 10pm. Holeman and Finch are wheelchair accessible. They recommend to come in early because they can get a bit crowded and their venue is small.
