Thank you Anne for sharing! I've posted your comment on our Puerto Rico destination page. There is private, wheelchair accessible transportatoin to get you from the ferry terminal to the tour, however it must be booked far in advance, and it is quite expensive!

My husband and I visited Puerto Rico in March, 2010. We took the ferry to Catano to take the Bacardi tour, which Bacardi says is accessible. The ferries are wheelchair accessible. Everyone uses the ramp to enter and exit. However, when you get off the ferry, they usher the crowd down the street to a large garage and expect you to hop on a bus that takes you to the Bacardi factory. The buses are NOT wheelchair accessible. You must be able to climb up the bus steps to get on, although they said they could store the chair if I was able to get on the bus. We asked if we could walk to the factory instead, but were told since it happened to be the last tour of the day, we wouldn't get there in time and the driver wouldn't or couldn't give us directions. So we waited for the next ferry and went back to OSJ. Next time, we'll try and drive to the factory. But the ferry ride was nice. Keep in mind, no one really speaks English in PR (except the concierges at resorts, so buying the correct tickets, finding the right ferry and talking to the Bacardi bus driver is a challenge if you don't speak any Spanish.

We are trying a service in San Juan that can get us from Airport to hotel and then to Cruise Pier. We need a service with wheel chair accessible for his motorized chair. We found some but the cost is outrages. Please help, we are leaving Sept.10
