We have found 2 companies who are able to assist with power/electric wheelchair options in Punta Cana.
The first is IBK Services- webpage is www.ibkservicios.com- they actually have a wheelchair accessible van- we have booked this for a trip later this month, will confirm it is what one would expect. It is shared amoung a few cities in DR- so be sure to book as far in advance as possible, and be patient, it will take some time for the trip to be confirmed.

Also as a backup, cocotours, website http://www.cocotours.com/

They do not have a wheelchair accesible van, but they offered to have a trailer attached to a van, they would lift the passenger into the van and load the chair into the trailer- may not be the first choice, but it is a much better option than nothing and Steve McQueen the president was very helpful, calling me to explain this option.
I hope that this helps a bit and will update with our experience on our return.

Just an FYI, spoke to the company above and they no longer have a wheelchair van. I am still looking for an alternative and will post should I find one. If you happen to know of wheelchair accessible airport transfers, please post.
thanks

I cannot climb stairs and need to know if there is a lift to help me up the stairs to the airplane when I leave punta cana airport. I see someone carred someone up the stairs, however, I weight 250 lbs and this is impossible. Please let me know ASAP as I have reservations for next week and am afraid i will never get home.
